Multi-state search continues for missing teen

Authorities have issued an amber alert for Elizabeth Thomas. She’s been missing from Columbia, Tennessee since March 13. She’s 15-years-old, white, with blonde hair, and hazel eyes. She’s 5’5”, 120 lbs, and was last seen wearing a flannel shirt and black leggings. She may be in the Decatur, Alabama area.

She’s believed to be traveling with 50-year-old Tad Cummins. Cummmins is a former teacher of Thomas, and has now been charged with aggravated kidnapping. He will be added to the the ten most wanted list in the state of Tennessee. They believe Cummins has firearms with him, which raises further concern for Elizabeth’s safety. The pair is thought to be traveling in a silver Nissan Rogue with Tennessee tags.

Authorities say they’ve only received about 175 tips about the disappearance. “At this point we’ve received about 175 tips into the TBI but none at this point have produced a credible sighting,” says Josh DeVine, Public Information Officer of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators say Cummins may have “groomed” the girl, abusing his position as a teacher and possibly sexually exploiting her while planning the disappearance.

“Our Amber Alert is ongoing and it has been several days since anyone has seen Elizabeth Thomas or Tad Cummins. Our concern is growing by the moment. We want her home, and him in custody,” says DeVine.
